Review: Seven Faceless Saints

Seven Faceless Saints Seven Faceless Saints by M.K. Lobb
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not a bad novel at all. I think closer to a 3.5 would be accurate. The characters were likely and the Italian-like atmosphere where people worship saints was reminiscent of Catholicism and Rome.
The male character, Damian was great. Really likable. Tortured. Also, it's clear that he has always been saint-gifted, he just doesn't realize it.

The female was much less likable (Ros) and I think that is the error here. Her tragic wound is the death of her father, but she's full of too much hatred to be likable. There was some redemption closer to the end of the novel involving Damian, but that is essentially all there was - you can't really ship the relationship because you tend to think Damian deserves better.

Also, I find it hard to believe that Batista wouldn't have seen all of this coming if he was such a venerated general.
