Review: Aurora's End

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was SO good that I think I cried for an hour straight. I've honestly not read anything this amazing in months. There are so many things that I have loved about the series.
The cyclical nature of the work and the way it all came together and played out in the end was beautiful. One of the things I love so much about Kaufman and Kristoff is their abilities to pre-plan their series with such a great balance of dramatic and situational irony.
The family that was created through the main characters - Tyler, Zila, Scarlett, Fin, Kal, Aurora, (and Cat). The characterization and arcs were masterful with this group. From the beginning of the series, I felt such a connection with Tyler and Kal. I loved how steadfast and loyal Kal was with Aurora from the beginning, but never really connected as much with Zila until this novel. Zila's character was much more developed here and her epiphany that led to her staying with --- was well put together. I didn't see it coming, yet it was clearly the only option.
The Ra'haam as a supervillain was just a brilliant creation. The infinite love as it takes over and feasts upon a persons brains and memories - it really was a perfect creation. ALSO, can I just say that this is also one of the best Sci-Fi novels I've ever read? I think that Kaufman and Kristoff did it better than James SA Corey! I mean, there is such a thing as over-explaining the SciFi genre - instead, they had everything that I wanted without the over-complication that you see in other SciFi novels.
Anyways, this is a must read. All of the novels are out, so you would be CRAZY to not at least start the series and see if you like it. It has a lot of SciFi/Fantasy aspects and just enough love interests to make it perfect.
I hope Kaufman and Kristoff write another one!! They are great co-writers.
